ProfileAs Aircraft Lease Management Director, Ken Newton is responsible for the commercial relationship with Alaska’s Lessors. In this role Ken is tasked with identifying opportunities and pioneering solutions to build long-term competitive advantages in aircraft lease and return condition obligations, defining the long-term strategy and processes for the leased fleet and maintaining an expert knowledge of aircraft lease contractual compliance and return condition obligations. Ken is also tasked with designing industry leading solutions around extensions, or early termination alternatives, that provide the best value to the airline. Prior to this role Ken was the Director of SCM Operations, where he led the sourcing and contract negotiations for Alaska and Horizon Maintenance and Engineering and Flight Operations divisions. In that role Ken acted as a business advisor to the divisions he supported by helping set, and executing, the strategy around supplier sourcing, selection and management. In the last few years Ken has focused much of his time on engine, components and material management strategy, sourcing and supplier oversight. He has successfully negotiated 3 major engine agreements, two services and one purchase contract, worth over $1B. In his new role Ken continues to be responsible for the supplier management, sourcing and contracting for the Airgroup’s engine maintenance requirements and will be leading multiple sourcing and contracting exercises in the next few years for over $2B in engine maintenance. Ken holds A&P and FCC licenses and an Operations Management degree from Washington State University.
