President and CEO
VAS Aero Services

A prominent and longtime professional with decades of experience in aviation and aerospace Tommy Hughes was appointed Chief Executive Officer for VAS Aero Services in 2015. As CEO he leads the executive team responsible for the company’s strategic direction, revenue generation and overall operations. Additionally, he directly oversees worldwide sales and marketing activities for the global aviation parts and services company.

In a career spanning more than 20 years, Hughes has held a variety of senior technical, marketing and sales positions in the aviation industry, gaining technical expertise, global marketing and sales insight, and industry perspective, including deep experience in engine MRO services and sales.

Mr. Hughes joined VAS in 2007. As Chief Commercial Officer, he led the company’s marketing and sales efforts through a period of unprecedented growth, expanding the VAS global logistics network to include marketing and sales offices in the United Kingdom, serving Europe, the Middle East and Africa; and Singapore, supporting the Asia-Pacific region. In his new role, Mr. Hughes assumes command of all business operations and responsibility for the company’s strategic vision and overall direction.

Prior to joining VAS, Mr. Hughes worked with Delta Airlines’ Tech Ops, where he led engine maintenance and test cell operations for Delta and third-party customers. His decades-long aviation career includes executive management positions in production and engine overhaul services, parts manufacturing, business operations and, in particular, international sales and marketing. During his tenure at Tech Ops, Mr. Hughes helped grow MRO third-party activities from a $50M operation to over $500M in revenue, while extending their landscape of global customers.
