Description

Overhauling aircraft engines is a complex and competitive business involving independent providers, OEMs and airline-owned shops offering in-house and third party services.  The complex nature of the engine teardown, repair and reassembly process lends itself well to computer automation.  This presentation will review the business drivers and priorities for engine shop automation including work scope planning and estimating, work planning and optimization, work execution and tracking, and the implications of skilled worker shortages and workforce retirements. Also to be discussed is the importance of customer communication for work approval, visibility into turnaround time, and records sharing.
