Profile

With 20 years of experience, Shakira has been the associate director of product
marketing at Pratt & Whitney since 2021. Prior to that, she was associate director of
customer experience at Pratt and Whitney where she led the customer focus team
(CFT) excellence initiative. From 2014-2019, she was a fleet manager and was
responsible for managing and executing the provisions and services of assigned
contracts in the Asia Pacific region. From 2008-2014, Shakira was a technical analyst in
contracts management at P&W. She currently serves as the P&W Hispanic
Organization for Leadership and Advancement (HOLA) Chair and served as president
(2011-2012), vice president (2007-2010), and community relations chair (2003-2007) of
the Hispanic Leadership Forum at P&W. She joined P&W, a division of Raytheon
Technologies (formerly United Technologies), in 2002 as an aero/thermal engineer.
Shakira received the UTC Volunteer of the Year award in 2006 and the Professional
Role Model Award in 2007 from the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.

Shakira has served as a Funston Trustee of Trinity College (2007-2010), director of the
CT Academy of Education in Mathematics, director of ASPIRA-CT, and president of the
Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers- CT Professional Chapter. She also served
on the Alumnae Board as a co-president and ex officio member of the Board of Trustees
at Miss Porter’s School. She is a member of the board of the Hartford Youth Scholars
and co-chair of the Women’s Leadership Council at Trinity College as well as serves as
a mentor to the college’s chapter of the Society of Women Engineers. She earned a
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Trinity College in 2002 and M.B.A from the
University of Hartford in 2013.
