Will Abbott is the Sr. Director of Powerplant Programs at Southwest Airlines and is responsible for providing technical, functional, and strategic leadership for Powerplant Engineering, Programs, and Planning. He serves as the point for contact for configuration control, quality, and cost for all Southwest Airlines fleet engine operations.
Prior to joining Southwest Airlines Mr. Abbott held roles of increasing responsibility with United Airlines, including Director Engine Vendor Programs where he led all engine vendor management and engine planning. During his time there, some of his accomplishments include driving CFM56-7B and PW4000 engine strategies, negotiating multi-billion-dollar engine maintenance contracts, and leading a special projects team that renovated United’s Flight Training Center in Denver.
Mr. Abbott started his career as a Sr. Supply Chain Analyst at Pratt & Whitney Canada managing engine bearing and fabricated assembly sourcing. He was promoted to United Technologies’ corporate office where he supported a Latin American aerospace component sourcing strategy as a Global Strategic Sourcing Commodity Manager.
Mr. Abbott holds a Bachelors of Engineering Degree from McGill University and an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
